Bio: My Mustang was
assembled in Dearborn, MI on March 18, 1965 as a Rangoon Red (Color J),
C code (289 2bbl V-8), 2+2 Fastback luxury (09, Model 63B) with a red
"pony" interior (Trim 65). It was delivered to Texas,
where it remained for 34 years. In 2000-2001 it was moved to and then
completely restored by an owner in Ohio. At that time the engine
was rebuilt to original specs but the 2bbl carb was replaced with a
4bbl, the 3 speed manual was replaced with a 4 speed and the GT fog
lamps and exhaust trumpets were added. I purchased it in October of
2005.
For the 1965 Mustang model
year, 77,079 Fastbacks were built (13.7% of all 1965 Mustangs), and of
these Fastbacks only 5,776 (7.49%) had the "pony interior". Of
all the Mustangs built for 1965 only 1.03% were Fastbacks with the
"pony" interior.
