April 21, 2007 Porsche Run It was a great day, members present were: Jeff, Swede, John Beller, Bill Kohler and Doug who rode down with Jeff. Good trip down except down except for missing the Porsche convey in York and the trucks and other idiots on I-80. We had two other Mustangs show up one was a newer Saleen convertible very nice. 30 cars attended the run (23 Porsches, 1 MB and 6 Mustangs). After signing the waivers and meeting the major owner and fellow Ford enthusiast we took 10 “Parade laps” on the track. Quite a nice experience. After a bite to eat, the Porsche guys headed back and we toured George Gossford’s machine shop…quite a shop. Gossford builds Corral Shelby Cobra’s for customers worldwide. His specialty is the engine. 347 strokers go for $38,000 and 427-502 bog blocks with Kinser fuel injection $58,000. Add that to the cheaper fiberglass Cobra at $55,000, plus options, or, at all aluminum Cobra at $98,000 and you can spend so bucks quickly. A fairly quick trip back to Columbus followed, we avoided I-80. Click on the photo to enlarge |
